The folly of many “believers” is the redundant embrace of religious syncretism.

I can’t imagine but I guess it goes back to them perceiving the Bible as being contradictory and insufficient, which it obviously isn’t, and so they adopt whatever ‘truths’ traditional religions and agnosticism avail.

Sometimes, I think it’s out of the need to fit into the status quo where religious fanaticism is abhorred.

I was in Mbarara town last week and a Google Maps notification came in saying, “Did you know that Ntungamo town is 64 km away? Do you want to visit?” Out of curiosity, I got a taxi and off I went. Upon reaching Ntungamo town, the Maps said, “Kabale in 72km away.” Excited this time, I immediately got a taxi to Kabale. When I got there and, another notification came saying, “Kigali is 104km away.” I knew I can easily be kidnapped, so I grabbed a bus back to Mbarara.😅

There's a sharp a lingering cognitive dissonance and the comfort of collective belief amongst those opposed to conspiracy theories (they taint the term is a fallacy—untrue, unreliable and therefore, harmful so they can isolate the dissenters). These people often reject what's inconvenient or disruptive to their worldview, even if it holds some truth—especially when it comes from fringe or unpopular voices (the indifferent minority). Meanwhile, they accept mainstream narratives, not necessarily because they are more truthful, but because they’re more palatable, endorsed by authority, and rarely challenge their biases. The contradiction lies in ridiculing skepticism while blindly revering influence.

Some people make the case of voting for leaders based on relatability to life experiences—a from grass to grace life experience. However, I wonder why that can be the basis for voting anyone into office—the relatability to their rise from relative obscurity. It should be ridiculous for a people to mediocrity and it's fruits of perpetual failure to this as its best alternative leadership.

Doesn't this appeal to only a portion of the electorate and alienate those who see no relatability? If no real policies are the basis, again, doesn't the appeal to a specific majority—if prevalent in an election—become their tyranny against the indifferent minority?

I've noticed how many social media takes are disingenuous. The implications are not ambiguous, but obvious; yet publishers will deny that, ignore counterarguments, and only engage with the responses that affirm their narrative.
Less about discourse, more about curating echo chambers.

And it's right, that they’re indeed under no obligation to respond to dissent, but the selective response proves one thing, that it wasn't about open dialogue but trying to reinforce bias, and prioritize narrative over truth-seeking.
