RUNNING BEHIND LIFE- Marie

Life is always demanding, taking...
It never pauses...
Not when you are tired, injured,
limping and lagging behind.

Life goes on, expecting you to catch up,
Asking for more of your time, resources and energy,
it smiles at those who spend.
Even when it gives, it comes for what it gave multiplied;
it doesn't give handouts, it invests, for gain.

And then on those days,
when I have given all of myself, when I am running out,
When my legs are broken and my hands can't carry me,
crawling behind,
to not lose pace,
With life, with every expectation...

I start wondering,
if my strength is never renewed,
or if it takes long and life has gone far ahead?
Will that be all for me?

Will that be the time to end it all and return to my Father?
Will He take me in, or will He tell me to be patient and stay until the race is won?
I only hope the race is not won by the fastest,
but by the one who refuses to leave.

Valentine’s day reminds me of something I've been thinking about for a while now; how human beings are so talented at turning simple, beautiful things into full-time problems.

It normally feels like life is full of problems, but sometimes I wonder if they’re really that many or if we’re just constantly creating more. We take something good, simple, complicate it, and then begin to complain. Before you know it, there are talk shows, podcasts, panel discussions, people building serious careers around fixing things that common sense and a little honesty could have solved.

Communication for example; God gifted us with the ability to communicate in various forms what we want, what we don't want, what we feel, get a response, so we know how to proceed. We can create spaces that allow others to communicate, respond honestly as well, and then move on with life. Reactions may not always be positive, but clarity has a way of phasing things out.

In every aspect of life, I have never seen someone who is always a victim do well.
They complain their lives away. They never do anything productive because they assume someone else owes them and will give them the life they desire. 😂

Someone may have genuinely done you wrong, but once you take a permanent seat in the victim’s corner and dwell there, no amount of guilt they feel will ever change your life.
And, that posture blinds you to your own actions that contribute to how badly you are doing.

Look at communities that still blame colonialism and slavery for their current state. You would think they were the only ones colonized or enslaved but they weren’t.
Their fellows just don't whine about it. They chose productivity and the fruits there of are evident.

One thing I’ve realized is that most advice and information seems to matter until the actual moment of decision which isn't always calm and perfect. Then all that information flies out the window, and you decide impulsively based on who you are or who you’ve become.

Having a lot of information doesn’t really help. What helps is improving yourself, so that even on impulse, you’re still making the right decisions.

I used to be so irritated by people who complained about the cost of everything. You pour one extra spoon of sugar and suddenly they start, “Do you know how much sugar costs these days?”

And I would be thinking, Will this spoon magically extend the sugar for another month? Calm down.

But then I told myself, Maybe when I grow up and start spending my own money, I will finally understand them. Maybe I will even complain more.

So I grew up. I now spend my own money and honestly, I still don’t get it.

It turns out it was never about budgeting. It’s just a habit. A mindset of scarcity. And yes, it still annoys me.

Yes, I run out of things and there are dry moments. But that doesn’t mean I will hold onto a drop of water like it is an ocean. I swallow the drop and hope for the best. 😂😂

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

It is through obedience that we truly surrender our will to His Lordship, because we stop being obsessed with what we do for Him and begin to focus on what He has said.

Sacrifice expresses how much we are willing to lose for Him, but at times it blinds us to what He is actually asking of us. We begin to measure value by our own standards, assuming that what is precious to us must also be precious to Him. We think that because we value things like money because of how much we need them He must need them too.

In doing so, we deny Him what He truly desires from us: a few minutes of our time, our trust in Him, our acceptance of His love.

We forget that true sacrifice is always rooted in love and love for Him is obedience to His words.
