BEYOND THE SHADOW OF REJECTION

To live and love unsparingly means embracing a kind of vulnerability that the world mistakes for desperation. Even then, I am not afraid to be called desperate, I don’t fear that my love will be taken advantage of, for the peace and joy of loving comes from the knowing that I have loved fully and there is no lingering regret over what I should have given.

Yes, I choose to double text, to show my affection loudly, to congratulate others, and to send the wishes that need to be sent. I forgive as soon as I am able and strive to see the best in others even when I am given very little to work with, because I remember that "we love because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19).
This is how I have been loved by Love Himself, who shows up at every moment of my day and loves me with everything He has, even the parts of myself I seem to reject. He did not consider His own holiness a hinderance to embracing my sinful self.

I just need that old love where love is not based on money and communication is the key. Don't come with your ego and disrespect.

(Philippians 2:7-8; He emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant and humbling Himself to the point of death on a cross.)

His reputation was at stake when He declared His love for me, choosing to leave His glory and take on human imperfection. What shame could ever be found in a text message, in the words of my lips, or in a simple act of kindness that could possibly compare to the shame of being stripped, spat on, and mocked by those over whom He reigned as King? What more shame could equal God carrying the body of sin, crucified between criminals, or the perfect Son of God being cast aside while Barabbas, a murderer, was chosen to live?

No heartbreak I suffer from loving openly will ever outweigh the weight of Him being forsaken on the cross, by God, His Father, bearing the burden of sin upon His neck while His mother watched helplessly, knowing her Son’s purpose was a very miserable death for a people including herself, that did not deserve it.
