Head over heels in love.

I used to be Marie the quiet girl,
the one constantly asked why I am the way I am.
But it feels like one day, everyone became like me.
Everyone is quiet now, living their private lives, and there is nobody left to ask why.

Maybe they got to know me and loved where I am, the quiet place.
I sure hope they weren't pushed into the quiet corner by life, forced to become me
...when they were happier being loud.

I wish I was made of poetry and patience
Someone better should be here to write your songs
But I will give you all there is of me, until my days are through
'Cause love is a thing you do

If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse
To a place where you'll be safe to feel our grace
Cause we've all made mistakes
If you've lost your way
I will leave the light on.

The greater visibility of bad over good creates the illusion of its greater prevalence. When society mistakes visibility for frequency, it begins to perceive goodness as scarce. And when scarcity is perceived long enough, what was once considered bad gradually becomes normalized.

It might be a unique ambition but the major reason I work is to be able to afford switching off my phone when I want to and to disappear completely every now and then without worrying about what that might cost me.

People with good hearts, people who love genuinely, actually win. Others think they don't because what they call winning is measured by a different trophy. But the people who love play for something else and they actually walk away with it.

They win the ability to love over and over again and to receive love when it is given. They win a heart that even after it has been hurt, carries no bitterness.

For what significance is there in winning at being loved more, when your heart has become so hardened that it cannot receive love? What is the point of taking affection, attention, admiration, people...from others yet you will never truly enjoy any of it because bitterness has filled every part in you where joy should have lived?

The greatest victory in love is not being loved more than everyone else, it is remaining capable of love in a world where the hearts of many have grown cold.

All I've ever wanted is for someone to look at me and see theirs.

There is perhaps no greater threat to human relationships than the absence of accountability. Where accountability is absent, conflict becomes perpetual, resentment accumulates, and relationships slowly become an endless drain.

Options may sometimes appear out of reach, not necessarily because they are limited, but more often because of the environment within which we confine ourselves.

If the purpose of love is merely to love, we diminish its value as a relational good when we give it indiscriminately to those who do not reciprocate it.

I so often wonder: does loving someone reveal or change their character? Does the presence of grace unmask a person, revealing them for who they truly are, or does it embolden them to become who the comfort of unconditional love allows them to be?

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

There are those who say they don’t need love. They treat those who truly love them as though they are helping them, like they should be grateful for the opportunity to love them. Because they don’t give love, they think it is something with no significance. They forget that it is through being loved that one gets the confidence to even feel like they can live without love. Hope, faith, joy and confidence are fruits from the love given to us, even when we don’t recognise it.

Love covers a multitude of wrongs and without it, we are exposed to the extreme versions of our undesirable selves, to the parts of us we constantly struggle to love.
So, the more you feel like you are too special to need love, you should be reminded that you have been loved so much that you were even able to feel special in the first place.

I want to be in love. I really do. It is beautiful to have someone I can call mine, to love someone.
But when having someone means surrendering the freedom to be alone forever, having someone in my bed every day, and eventually having other little human beings who depend on my attention to survive, I wonder if it is worth it.

If only life could give us both.

Maybe the saying, “You can’t always have what you want,” isn't really about how many things you can acquire. Maybe it is about whether you can have them exactly the way you want them. Whether you can somehow beat irony and get the beautiful thing without having to accept all the things that come with it. Not because they are bad but because you are not ready to handle them.

Do worshippers of idols realize that they are the creators of their own gods?

They create the gods before whom they submit and prostrate.

No wonder, idols break the hearts of their own worshippers.

The irony of life's mismatches seems to justify the laws of magnetism on poles and their repulsive and attractive attributes. Isn't it strange how those who possess particular views, values and visions end up with those with entirely contrary views, values and visions. Nonetheless, just because such phenomena occur doesn't mean that is all that there is, because the reality is that this occurrence, though highly visible, is more the exception than the rule.

Therefore, it's true that life often presents striking examples of opposites attracting, but it's prudent to note that these mismatches remain only exceptional rather than representative because in the end, shared views, values and visions remain the more common basis for human compatibility.
