The hacking of Kenya’s State House, Interior, and other government websites shows exactly why the digital ID system is risky.
If people can break into top gov't sites and post extremist messages, what happens when these systems hold our personal details?

This is why, before governments push for digital IDs, they must first make sure their systems are strong and secure and think carefully before creating one central pool of personal data as this is the dream of every hacker. #DigitalID #Kenya

Well said @iammgume
More than half of the world’s population has no idea what’s goin’ on or with digital ID is. Part of those who know, don’t give a shyt. This leaves the lesser who give a shyt. The deep meaning is this is they’ve won already-the implementors. So unless the number is higher than the former, the few are cooked on behalf of the current.

Thank you so much for this.
Many of us dont care to know about certain things because we assume they are so far from us. Some of us know but we are too lazy to act on the knowledge. So we surrender to whatever might be because we are averted to effort.

When it comes to systems, especially tech related ones, I think we, humans tend to find ourselves in a paradox.
(Allow me to consider the digital ID system, for instance)

There are about 3 factions, when it comes to the digital ID;
The elites, who see an opportunity to grab and strengthen their grip on power
The masses, which are divided into 2 groups, one of which is totally unaware of what a digital ID is and the other which I'd say, is well conversant with what it entails to have a digital ID.

Now, I'm not saying that that's all the groups, but in a nutshell, I think that data can be used to make a valid argument.

One thing that we need to make peace with, as humans, is that we can never be 💯 percent perfect ( yes, you might say otherwise when it comes to machines and systems but it is the humans who design(ed) them and (from my good ol' life while I still went to therapy, I used to be told that ) you can't give what you don't have. So, perfection, whether in machin

... machines or systems can never be achieved, but the fact that we're considering getting the digital ID up and running as need to ask from amongst ourselves whether, once the idea is implemented, fully, we'll have a Ctrl+ Z because trust me (or don't) once we've taken the step, there's no going back!

The true question here is whether we're willing to pay the price that comes along with implementing for the digital ID because it is a huge price and very few, If not a fraction, of us is willing to foot the entire bill (and maybe give a tip or two)

Sometimes when the control freaks are taking shots at anything that gives them control, the hunger to have everyone under their remote overshadows reasonable calculations considering what might go wrong. And that is the problem. And if we like sheep also follow blindly, we find ourselves suffering these consequences.

I don't know whether it's the naïvity in me speaking but i know that there's always a loophole in every system, we are either too lazy to look for it or the makers of the system have such a reputation that we think that their system is foolproof!
