The folly of many “believers” is the redundant embrace of religious syncretism.
I can’t imagine but I guess it goes back to them perceiving the Bible as being contradictory and insufficient, which it obviously isn’t, and so they adopt whatever ‘truths’ traditional religions and agnosticism avail.
Sometimes, I think it’s out of the need to fit into the status quo where religious fanaticism is abhorred.
